explanation
the existing europahaus mayrhofen is a compact building with a central, large event hall on the first floor, to which all other functions are attached in a ring. this principle is retained, strengthened, and expanded in the new concept. all newly required functions are arranged in a ring around the existing event hall, essentially extending the building with a new "onion skin." with few exceptions (roof of the saal europa, delivery), the building is given a new shell. this gives the europahaus a contemporary appearance of a crystalline, self-confident structure, transparent and flexibly usable, meeting all requirements of a future center for the most diverse uses. the building becomes a distinctive brand.
entrance foyers and offices on the ground floor
on the ground floor, the extension ring houses the new entrance foyer, preceded by a generously designed, partially covered europahaus square. (drop-off possibility for buses, taxis, tourist train, seating areas, fountain with drinking water, display cases) through this foyer one can access the conference area directly without having to enter the large foyer, as well as reach the restaurant extending into this ring from the outside. furthermore, the additional required spaces for the tourism association, europahaus office, and incoming office are enlarged in this ring. inside, the former foyer becomes a large exhibition and event space, which also receives an additional entrance directly from the east, coming from the parking deck.

conference area on the upper floor
on the upper floor, a spacious, coherent conference area is created. all required areas for conferences are arranged in a ring around the existing saal europa. between this new conference area and saal europa, a new conference foyer is created in an intermediate layer, which is lit in a ring at the interface between the old and new roofs and additionally opens up a large folding window surface with a view of the mountain landscape.
the advantages of this ring-shaped conference area are:
- easy orientation
- all conference rooms with natural light and views of nature
- no unattractive interior conference rooms
- any separation of conference room sizes up to a single room (for balls, etc.)
interactive museum zillertal of music
the volume of the existing gymnasium becomes the music experience world zillertal of music. the existing flat roof of the gymnasium is removed and replaced by a sloping glass roof, which connects to the outer extension ring of the upper floor. it connects the volume of the sunken existing gymnasium with the new saal osttirol on the upper floor. it already conveys from the outside an attractiveness that "leads into the depths" and provides a view into and daylight for the sunken volume. to further enhance the museum and make the descent exciting, the narrow gymnasium geometry is extended on the first basement level, through which the necessary delivery for the museum is also easily managed.
parking deck
directly adjacent to the europahaus, a single-story parking deck is located to the east, from which visitors can reach the large foyer on the ground floor via a short path over a bridge or access the zillertal music museum via a walkway.
