jury statement
project 06 sits as an elongated building volume oriented east–west at the end of the village square. a partially recessed volume sinks into the slope in a north–south direction. on one hand, the building sets a clear accent and spatial conclusion to the square. on the other hand, the roof of the kindergarten wing integrates sensitively into the meadow landscape and therefore withdraws subtly. the single-storey area structures the square while still incorporating the surrounding meadow landscape. the planned underground parking connects to both the existing building and the new education campus, and provides the necessary technical infrastructure rooms in the basement. the gym extends into the double-height space on the ground floor, allowing a transparent view through the southern part of the building. access to the education campus is clearly legible and is organized by a central main entrance followed by a clear circulation axis for the primary school.

kindergarten and nursery are located on the ground floor. the nursery group rooms are oriented to the south and have direct access to outdoor areas. by creating a play area on the square, a direct outdoor play area for the kindergarten is also provided. the setback of the building from the existing single-family house to the north is considered successful. the separated access for the primary school and the open floor plan structure as well as the functional arrangement of rooms in the school area suggest the possibility of open learning. the integration of an outdoor classroom and the opportunity to use the kindergarten roof are evaluated as successful integration of the landscape. the urban design composition, through the underground parking driveway, and the zoning of the square, suggest a spatially well-protected and lively use of the square. the project convinces with compactness, good daylighting and a sensitive urban design approach.
