overall organization
clear, legible layout and organization of the three school units in separate building structures, with a shared new entrance
single-storey building structure is placed in front of the two multi-storey existing buildings, reducing the high “enclosure” of the schoolyard by one storey and forming the new greened courtyard level for the school complex
no reduction of usable schoolyard space. the extension creates a park to experience and walk through on two levels, break area, volleyball court, outdoor sports area
student access remains from the south and northeast
light wells create necessary distance between the extension and the two existing buildings
outdoor area of the kindergarten remains unaffected
new, shared student entrance for all three schools forms an “aula” for joint events, serves as horizontal and vertical distributor to more intimate zones of the three school types
assigned cloakrooms at the entrances of each school unit with separate dirty and clean corridors
barrier-free access to all functional areas via new lift
special needs education center
organization of the entire area on one level on the ground floor, thereby meeting the special needs of the children: short distances, clearly arranged, barrier-free, care-friendly, natural light in all areas
community life on one level, inward orientation, living-room-like atmosphere, rooms to feel good in, sense of security
classrooms oriented toward the garden, special education rooms toward the light well
movement areas are generously organized without narrowness, serve as break area, create retreat corners, play areas and space for shared celebrations

polytechnic school
structural system of the existing building is largely preserved. solid central corridor walls are replaced with reinforced concrete columns/beams
corridors are naturally lit via skylights and glazed doors
classroom entrance niches in the “box walls” structure the corridors
internal connection between both floors via new required emergency staircase

gym area
shared level for gym 1 (existing) and gym 2 (new building)
synergy effects due to proximity of sanitary facilities and large shared equipment room
connection of both gyms for large (school) events
natural cross ventilation in both gyms
