facade design of the kulturgarage seestadt. an artistic research project by hanna schimek in collaboration with jakob fuchs
what colors does the city wear?
do cities have their own color character, and can the identity of a city be represented in color?
to explore this question, a representative sample survey was conducted to determine the colors of all building facades on stumpergasse, vienna 1060. the colors collected were applied to a facade element in the order of the house numbers. the aim is to reflect an essential visual aspect of historic vienna on the facade of the kulturgarage aspern, one of the largest urban development projects in europe.
