sports and wellness swimming complex eggenberg

architectural concept
ike an oyster slightly opened, generously opening up to the outdoor area to flood the intimate interior with light and nature, a shell contains all the bathing and wellness facilities. due to the building's location at the street-side edges of the property, the built water world offers protection for the outdoor area.

swimming pool
in the entrance area, which is one metre above street level, the clearly zoned functional sequences are clearly separated into wellness and swimming pool areas. the pathways strictly follow the principle of separating dirty and clean areas. bathing guests can only access the interior areas via the lock function of the changing rooms. the outdoor pool can be accessed both via the changing rooms and via the foyer on the entrance level. the vertical layering of the swimming pool/changing room and entrance functions means that all functions are connected without any intersections.

sports pool
the sports pool area includes a 50-metre competition pool, a diving facility with a 5-metre diving tower and diving boards for synchronised diving competitions, spectator and sunbathing stands, as well as a teaching pool with a toddler area and a gymnastics room. the micro-perforated, suspended foil ceiling, together with horizontally and vertically pivoted and inclined façade surfaces, ensures optimal room acoustics. the restaurant is located like a spectator stand in the swimming pool theatre. floor-to-ceiling glazing provides the best view of the competitions and the daily hustle and bustle. the cloakrooms, from which the outdoor area can be accessed without crossing any paths, and the swimming pool are located on one level, which is also directly connected to the wellness area.
wellness area
gentle landscaping protects the wellness area from the view of bathers. the open area associated with the wellness area is thus part of the park landscape, but its intimacy is confirmed by the vertical distance. zoning of space in the wellness area follows the necessary sequence from public to private. the relaxation level suspended in the room volume, which is assigned to both the therapy and wellness areas, makes the spatial experience of the wellness wing three-dimensional. the wellness area is equipped with various saunas, steam and heat baths, a salt room, a pool landscape with a fire grotto, relaxation areas and a catering area.

outdoor pool:
the park landscape of the Eggenberger Bath has always been an important natural space, both for the outdoor area of the pool and for the district. It is intended to continue to have an impressive, dominant presence. by removing the former outdoor grandstand area, the generous openness of the site can be further emphasized and expanded.
